snow day homework

Honors and AP Studio students will complete a drawing in any media that shows "the formula" that is something in the foreground leading you into the middle of the picture with the subject in the middle and an escape hatch, like a door or window behind. You may draw from life or use the photographs you have shown me. This can be a 2PAGE SPREAD in you sketchbook or on 11x14 paper. Use at least 3 tones or include as much information(detail) as you can OR Create a mood with light and shadow. Leave no white unless its an important shape. IMPRESS ME! No quick sketches will be accepted. due the day you return to class. Probably Tues.

Letter to Santa (from an Art Student)


Dear Santa,
Instead of socks or underwear some art supplies would really be nice. I could even paint a picture for the family room! Here is a list of possible things I could use:
First choice could be an oil painting kit of some kind or you could get individual colors as follows: KITS RUN AROUND $50
OIL PAINT 1.25oz to 6.75oz.(200ml) The bigger the tube the longer it lasts.
WATER SOLUABLE OIL PAINT-ARTISAN BRAND
There are many sets available. Good OIL brands are Winsor& Newton (best),Daler-Rowney, van gogh.

COLORS:
· Cadmium yellow
· Alizarine crimson
· Cadmium red
· Cerulean blue
· Cobalt blue
· Ultramarine blue
· Titanium white (2)
· Yellow ocher
· Dioxazine purple

· ARTIST EASEL..The most versatile is the Winsor& Newton Travel easel in some stores for $95 but I have seen it on line for much less.
· OIL PASTELS 12 and up Sakura “expressionist” cray-pas are a good brand
· WHEN YOU BUY THE “HUE” OF A COLOR IT IS CHEAPER!• 4-6 brushes in a variety of sizes #2, #4, #6,#8, #10."Filberts"and"Rounds" are the styles of brushes I like to use.(You should still have brushes from last year)
• Toolbox or paintbox to put paints in
• 3—5 ebony or sketching pencils•
